Tourism Deputy Minister Kostas Koumis has met with local officials and tourism bodies in Paphos to review the sector’s performance and discuss challenges facing the district in the year ahead, the ministry said.
The meeting, held at the Old Electricity Cultural Center, brought together Paphos Mayor Phedonas Phedonos, Geroskipou Mayor Nikos Palios, and representatives from the Paphos Regional Tourism Board (ETAP) and the Cyprus Hotel Association. The discussion formed part of the ministry’s broader effort to upgrade individual destinations across the country.
Koumis said he was satisfied with tourism results for 2025 and highlighted Paphos’ role as one of Cyprus’ most popular destinations. A presentation by the Tourism Observatory on Paphos’ statistical profile was followed by an open discussion with participants.
The deputy minister said maintaining competitiveness and service quality across all destinations remains a priority, noting that 2026 will bring new challenges, particularly those linked to climate change.
On the planned Paphos Marina, Koumis said the project is progressing according to schedule, with contract signing expected in early 2027. He stressed that no delays have occurred and that public interest in the project remains strong.
