Two men, aged 33 and 34 years old, have been arrested suspected of being the traffickers of the 18 people who were spotted early in a boat, off the sea area of Akrotiri.
The young men are suspected of the offenses of conspiracy to commit a felony, exiting the Republic through an unauthorized port and money laundering.
The 18 people on board, of Syrian origin, 10 men, three women and five minor children, were taken to a reception center.
The boat was spotted by the Coastal and Maritime Police, seven nautical miles from Akrotiri Zeugari.
As it was established, the boat had sailed from the sea area of Moni bound for Italy.
