FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — Cyprus is experiencing another strong year for tourism, with arrivals and revenue up 11.5% compared to the same period in 2024, Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis said Wednesday.
Speaking on state radio, Koumis projected that 2025 will set new records for both tourist arrivals and income, despite regional instability.
He noted that the recent 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran had minimal impact on travel flows to the island.
Hotel occupancy rates remain exceptionally high, reaching nearly 100% during the summer season, according to the ministry.
Tourism is a cornerstone of Cyprus’s economy, contributing nearly 20% to the country’s gross domestic product when accounting for both direct and indirect effects.
It fuels a wide range of sectors—from hospitality and transportation to retail and agriculture—creating thousands of jobs and supporting local businesses across the island.
