FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Dominican Republic says it has deported roughly 30,000 Haitians each month since tightening its migration policy last October.
The Caribbean nation shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
Haiti continues to grapple with extreme poverty, gang violence, and political instability. In recent months, more than one million Haitians have been displaced due to escalating violence.
Dominican officials say the deportations are part of a broader effort to enforce immigration laws and manage border security.
