ANKARA— Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday that Turkey has restored relations with both rival factions in Libya, presenting Ankara as a stabilizing force in the country’s fractured political landscape.

Speaking to reporters on his return from Doha, Erdogan emphasized the importance of ratifying the Turkey-Libya maritime memorandum by the Benghazi-based administration, calling it a “significant achievement under international law.”

The Turkish leader is reportedly seeking to exert pressure on the eastern faction led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, as both sides in Libya continue to compete for international legitimacy ahead of renewed efforts to resolve the country’s long-standing conflict.

Erdogan’s remarks come amid growing diplomatic maneuvering, with Turkey deepening ties in both Tripoli and Benghazi, despite historical tensions. The memorandum, originally signed with the Tripoli government, remains a contentious issue, and its potential ratification by Haftar’s camp would mark a major shift in regional alliances
