FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Hong Kong Postal Service announced Wednesday it is halting parcel shipments to the United States in response to President Donald Trump’s latest tariff increase.
Sea transport of goods to the U.S. was suspended immediately, while air shipments will cease starting April 27, the agency said.
The suspension applies to parcel mail, though letter deliveries will continue as usual.
Hong Kong Post cited the upcoming U.S. tariff hike, set to take effect May 2, as the reason for its decision.
“The United States is acting unreasonable, is being bully, and is imposing tariffs abusively,” the announcement read.
“Hong Kong Post will definitely not collect any so-called customs duties on behalf of the United States.”
The move marks an escalation in trade tensions, further complicating logistics for businesses and individuals reliant on cross-border shipping.
