FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The UK’s consumer price index rose 2.6 percent in March, down from 2.8 percent in February, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Analysts had expected a 2.7 percent increase.
“Inflation slowed again in March, driven by a range of factors, including falling fuel prices and unchanged food prices, compared with the price increases we saw at the same time last year,” said Grant Fitzner, chief economist at the ONS.
The decline comes as a relief for the Labour government, which has faced economic uncertainty fueled by U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff policies.
