FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Israeli military announced Wednesday that it is expanding the Morag Corridor, a newly established dividing line in the southern Gaza Strip, turning approximately one-third of the enclave into security zones under full Israeli military control.
An infographic video released by the military depicted the Morag Corridor running between Rafah and Khan Younis, effectively cutting off Rafah from central Gaza.
The footage showed widespread destruction in Khan Younis, with only a few heavily damaged buildings remaining.
The military stated that it has achieved full operational control over several key areas and routes throughout Gaza, designating around 30 percent of the territory as an Operational Security Perimeter.
In addition to the Morag Corridor, Israel has also established the Netzarim Corridor, a military buffer zone in central Gaza designed to isolate Gaza City and northern Gaza from the rest of the enclave.
Israel has blocked all humanitarian aid from entering Gaza since March 2.
The military resumed air and ground assaults on March 18 following the end of a two-month ceasefire with Hamas.
Since then, Israeli forces have carried out airstrikes on approximately 1,200 targets using around 350 fighter jets and other aircraft.
Gaza health authorities reported Wednesday that the renewed attacks have killed 1,652 Palestinians and injured 4,391 others. The total death toll in Gaza since the war began in October 2023 has now reached 51,025, with 116,432 injured.
