FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – An Israeli airstrike hit a hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, on Sunday, according to the Gaza Civil Defense and AFP.
Health personnel told Reuters that five people were killed and several others injured in the attack, which targeted the surgery department of the hospital. Palestinian health authorities confirmed that among the dead were a 16-year-old boy and Ismail Barhoum, a member of Hamas’s political wing.
The hospital, one of several in Gaza affected by Israeli strikes since October 7, 2023, suffered significant damage. The Israeli military (IDF) acknowledged the attack, stating it targeted a Hamas operative inside the facility.
Hamas-affiliated media confirmed Barhoum’s death, describing the strike as a violation of international norms.
