The Jordanian Air Force will carry out 16 helicopter flights per day to bring in vital emergency aid to Gaza.
Within a week, the airlift will ensure that at least 160 tons of medical supplies are delivered to hospitals and clinics in the Palestinian territory.
UN organizations, led by the World Food Program, will be responsible for deliveries directly to hospitals and clinics.
“More aid is needed for the Palestinian people in Gaza. The extent of the destruction and suffering the Palestinian people are going through is horrific,” Jordanian Communications Minister Mohamed Momani said as the first helicopters took off from a military base .
