Jordan’s King Abdullah II and visiting EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Sunday called for comprehensive calm in the region and respect for state sovereignty as they discussed ongoing developments.

The two leaders reaffirmed that the two-state solution remains the sole basis for achieving a just and lasting peace.

Abdullah urged adherence to the Gaza ceasefire agreement, uninterrupted humanitarian aid deliveries and an immediate halt to unilateral measures against Palestinians in the West Bank, according to a Royal Court statement.

Talks also covered economic cooperation, including preparations for the Jordan-EU Summit in Amman in January 2026 and a joint economic forum next year with investor participation.

Kallas said the EU is committed to strengthening its partnership with Jordan and highlighted the kingdom’s role in supporting regional stability.
