FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Customs officers at Larnaca International Airport seized large quantities of undeclared tobacco products and nicotine pouches during inspections on August 8, 10, and 11, authorities said.

On August 11, two passengers bound for the United Kingdom were found carrying 75 cartons of cigarettes each, lacking required health warnings and traceability codes.

Both were arrested and remanded for three days.

On August 10, a passenger arriving from India via Qatar was found with 459 nicotine pouches not authorized for sale in Cyprus.

He was released after paying a €900 fine and forfeiting the products for destruction.

On August 8, another passenger headed to the UK was caught with 70 cartons of cigarettes and 40 packs of rolling tobacco, totaling two kilograms. He was detained for two days.

Customs officials said the items were unmarked and lacked security features, indicating they were untaxed and intended for illegal distribution.
