Jordanian authorities said a man was shot dead early Sunday in the capital Amman after opening fire on security forces in the neighborhood housing the Israeli embassy.
Three security personnel were wounded by the attacker before he died, government spokesman Mohamed Moumani was quoted as saying by the state-run Petra news agency.
He condemned “a terrorist attack against the forces” of Jordan and described the assailant as an “outlaw with a criminal past” linked to drugs. Mr. Moumani, who did not specify the nationality of the assailant, announced the opening of an investigation.
