Mesopotamia Express Sleeper Train Begins Operations

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Mesopotamia Express, a long-distance sleeper train aimed at attracting tourists to Türkiye’s cultural heartland, commenced service on Friday.

The train connects Ankara with Diyarbakir in a 26-hour journey spanning 1,051 kilometers, offering 180 passengers a chance to explore Anatolia’s rich heritage.

The service includes several-hour stops at key destinations, such as Kayseri, the gateway to Cappadocia; Malatya, a historic trade hub; and Diyarbakir, home to a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Passengers can enjoy authentic Anatolian cuisine and immersive cultural experiences along the route.

The Mesopotamia Express is set to operate eight round trips annually, combining scenic travel with opportunities to delve into Türkiye’s ancient civilizations. ■
