The Minister of Labour, Marinos Mousiouttas, has appealed to football clubs to enrol in a scheme for the repayment of overdue contributions to the Social Insurance Fund, which will remain open until the middle of September.
He stressed that everyone was obliged to pay their contributions to the Fund and to remain compliant and law-abiding.
Mr Mousiouttas explained that the scheme allowed those in arrears on social insurance payments, provided they kept up with current obligations, to join and settle their outstanding debts in 54 instalments.
He added that 1,500 applications had been submitted so far, and warned that such an opportunity was unlikely to be offered again.
Debts owed by football clubs to the Social Insurance Fund currently stand at €9.5 million.
