Motor‑vehicle registrations in Cyprus rose 12.9% in the first three months of 2026, reaching 13,837 compared with 12,256 in the same period last year.
In March alone, total registrations increased 8.9% to 4,817. Passenger saloon cars rose 5.9% to 3,710.
For January–March, saloon‑car registrations climbed 10.9% to 10,627. Of these, 34% were new vehicles and 66% used. Rental cars fell to 822 from 1,027.
The fuel mix continued to shift: petrol cars fell to a 36% share from 43.2% a year earlier, diesel dipped slightly to 8.8%, electric vehicles held steady at 4.9%, and hybrids increased sharply to 50.3%.
Bus registrations rose to 64 from 38. Goods‑transport vehicles increased 19.5% to 1,731, driven by a 55.3% jump in heavy trucks, a 43.1% rise in rental vehicles, a 34.1% increase in road tractors and a 13.5% rise in light trucks.
Mopeds under 50cc fell to 29 from 60, while motorcycles over 50cc rose 22.4% to 1,191.
