About 45 percent of mobile devices registered in Turkey last year were produced domestically, according to data from the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said.

A total of 16,921,282 devices entered the Mobile Device Registration System in 2025 through imports, domestic manufacturing and passenger‑carried phones. Of these, 11,373,532 were imported and 5,476,547 were manufactured in Turkey. Another 71,203 devices were brought in by travelers.

Uraloğlu said 11,683,195 of the registered devices were smartphones. Of these, 6,341,391 were imported and 5,270,601 were locally manufactured.

He noted that IMEI registration is mandatory for imported phones within 120 days and that applicants must not have registered another device in the previous three years. Applications can be submitted through the e‑Government portal.

Most registered devices were Samsung and Apple models, Uraloğlu said, with additional registrations from brands such as Redmi, Oppo, Tecno, Reeder, Infinix, Realme and TCL.

The total number of IMEI registrations last year reached 29,747,029.
