North Cyprus “Health Ministry” Announces Inquiry Into IVF Clinics After BBC Report

The “Ministry of Health” in the occupied areas has announced that an investigation is under way into claims concerning certain IVF clinics in the north, following the furore prompted by a BBC investigation.

The body has called on families undergoing such treatment at these clinics who harbour concerns or doubts about the procedures involved to submit a formal application, so that the claims may be fully investigated, any similar cases identified, and potential victims uncovered.

Applications, it said, would be handled with due confidentiality and in accordance with data protection principles, in order to assist the review and assessment process.

It further described patient safety, children’s right to health, access to accurate genetic and medical information, and the conduct of IVF procedures in accordance with the law as fundamental priorities.
