Police in Cyprus swoop on illegal immigrants, 24 arrests

Police have identified and arrested 24 people, of various nationalities, who were illegally residing in Cyprus.

According to a police announcement, those arrested were taken into custody and the procedures for their immediate deportation are underway.

The coordinated police operation – which occurred in towns across the island – began at 04:00 am and ended at midnight.

In all, Police arrested 63 illegal third-country nationals and repatriated 173 people over the last 7 days.

Since the beginning of the year, almost 9,000 people, who resided illegally in Cyprus, have been repatriated.
