Portugal has introduced a new Digital Business Wallet designed to streamline administrative procedures for companies, encourage entrepreneurship and free up resources.
Gonçalo Matias, minister for the Cabinet and State Reform, said the first version of the wallet will be free and will allow businesses to store key documents, integrate more easily into administrative processes, interact with banks and take part in public tenders.
Prime Minister Luís Montenegro described the tool as a “new citizen card for companies,” calling it a central element of the government’s drive to simplify bureaucracy.
“This is an essential step in our program to combat excessive bureaucracy and the time that citizens and companies often lose on administrative tasks,” he said.
Montenegro added that the government aims to “interfere as little as possible” in business activity so companies can focus on generating wealth and raising wages.
