FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Vural Radar Electronic Support (ES) and Electronic Attack (EA) System, developed by Turkish defense company Aselsan, allegedly disrupted the communications of the Cypriot National Guard, according to local media reports.

The Vural system consists of a fixed radar, TRS-22XX, with a range of 500 kilometers, connected to a mobile ES/EA radar.

Both are reportedly stationed at Beşparmak Mountain (888 hill) in northern Cyprus.

One newspaper provided detailed information about the system’s capabilities and cited issues of electronic warfare affecting National Guard operations.

Reports suggest that there are only four Turkish-made Vural systems, with one deployed in Cyprus since last year.

The system has also reportedly been tested in Libya and Syria.

WHAT IS VURAL?

The Vural Radar Electronic Support (ES) and Electronic Attack (EA) System is an advanced electronic warfare system developed by Turkish defense company Aselsan. It is designed to detect, identify, and counter enemy radar systems while protecting friendly forces.

The system includes two main components:

  1. Electronic Support (ES): This subsystem detects radar signals, identifies their technical parameters, and provides intelligence on enemy radar-guided targeting systems.
  2. Electronic Attack (EA): This subsystem disrupts enemy radar operations by reducing their effectiveness, transmitting false information, or preventing them from detecting friendly targets. It can simultaneously attack multiple enemy radars.

The Vural system is mounted on tactical wheeled vehicles, making it mobile and adaptable for various battlefield scenarios. It has been deployed by the Turkish Armed Forces and tested in regions like Libya and Syria
