FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands have arrived in Cyprus as they prepare for their two-day state visit.
The royal couple looked relaxed and cheerful upon landing at Larnaca, a sentiment that was likely amplified by the unique circumstances of their journey.
In an impressive display of his piloting skills, King Willem-Alexander himself co-piloted the aircraft, a role he is well-qualified for.
The monarch obtained his Private Pilot’s Licence in 1985 and followed it up with a Commercial Pilot’s Licence just two years later.
His passion for flying is well-documented, and this evening, he took to the skies once again, this time guiding the royal aircraft to a smooth landing in Cyprus.
Photographs captured the moment the King sat in the cockpit, demonstrating his hands-on approach and love for aviation.
The royal couple’s arrival has been highly anticipated, and their visit aims to bolster the already strong ties between the Netherlands and Cyprus.
The state visit will commence with an official welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday morning, followed by private meetings and expanded talks between the delegations.
