Russia has finished flight tests of four Ionosfera-M satellites designed to study the Earth’s ionosphere, state space corporation Roscosmos said Saturday.
The satellites form the Ionozond system, which will now move to commissioning. Scientists will use the system to examine the ionosphere’s structure, electromagnetic fluctuations, atmospheric composition and ozone distribution.
The satellites will also monitor radiation conditions.
The first pair was launched aboard a Soyuz-2.1b rocket from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in November 2024.
The second pair followed in July 2025, also from Vostochny.
