FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — Argentine authorities have uncovered a Russian-backed spy network engaged in a disinformation campaign against the government.
Government spokesman Manuel Adorni said Wednesday that the operation sought to recruit individuals loyal to Russian interests and use them to spread false information targeting the Argentine state.
The organization, allegedly funded by the Kremlin and known as La Compañía (The Company), is said to have ties to the Lakhta Project, a social media disinformation initiative linked to Russian oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin. Prigozhin, who later led the Wagner Group in its brief 2023 march on Moscow, died in a plane crash later that year.
