A SAS flight from Oslo to Longyearbyen has returned to the mainland due to bad weather, reports Norway Broadcasting.
Norway is in the middle extreme winter weather causing traffic problems and power outages across the country.
According to the Svalbardposten, the plane was scheduled to land in Longyearbyen at 11:25, but poor conditions on the runway and strong winds made it too challenging for a safe landing.
Elsewhere, a small plane with ten people on board is missing in the US state of Alaska .
The plane was en route from the town of Unalakleet to Nome on Thursday, but never arrived in Nome. A search operation is now underway.
The aircraft is a Cessna and is operated by the airline Bering Air.
