FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Aerial searches resumed at first light Wednesday in the Gulf of Chrysochous to locate a 35-year-old Polish tourist who has been missing since Easter Tuesday, according to the Search and Rescue Coordination Center of Cyprus.

Searches continued throughout the night by sea and land but yielded no results, authorities said.

The tourist reportedly departed alone from the port of Latchi around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on a rented inflatable boat for a brief tour of the surrounding sea area, said Paphos Assistant Police Chief Michalis Nikolaou.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., the boat was spotted unmanned about 200 meters from the coast in the sea area of Argaka.

Citizens alerted authorities, and police informed the Central Disaster and Emergency Response Center, which initiated the National Plan “Nearchos” to coordinate search and rescue efforts.

The operation involves two helicopters from the police and National Guard, one helicopter from the Port and Maritime Police, and members of the Paphos Police Department conducting ground searches.
