FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region, bringing mostly clear skies across much of the island Tuesday, with periods of increased cloud cover.

Clouds are expected to build over mountainous areas and possibly parts of the interior by midday, leading to isolated showers. A brief thunderstorm is also possible.

Winds will be light early in the day, mainly from the southeast to southwest at 3 Beaufort, becoming southwesterly to northwesterly by midday at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Coastal areas may see gusts reaching 5 Beaufort. Seas will be slightly choppy.

Temperatures are forecast to reach 38 degrees Celsius inland, 32 degrees on the western and southwestern coasts, 34 degrees along other coastal areas, and 28 degrees in higher elevations.

Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear, though low clouds may develop locally. Patchy fog or mist is expected to form in southern and eastern areas during the early morning hours.

Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Seas will be calm to slightly choppy in the east and south, and slightly choppy in the west and north.

Overnight lows will fall to 23 degrees Celsius inland, 24 degrees on the coast, and 19 degrees in the mountains.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for similar conditions, with mostly clear skies and localized cloud buildup in the afternoon over mountainous and interior areas, possibly producing isolated showers or a thunderstorm.

Thursday and Friday are expected to remain mostly sunny, with a chance of brief, isolated showers over the mountains in the afternoon.

Temperatures through Friday are not expected to change significantly, remaining near or slightly above seasonal averages.
