Stock markets in Asia rose sharply today. Shortly after lunch in Tokyo, the Nikkei index had risen 1.6 percent. And in Hong Kong, the HSI index had risen a whopping 2.9 percent.
The rise was expected, after US President Donald Trump suspended punitive tariffs on Mexican and Canadian goods.
The rise in Asia follows yesterday’s decline in Asia, Europe and the US, which was due to the tariff threats.
