A low-pressure system named Barbara, currently centred over the northern Aegean, is moving eastward and is expected to affect Cyprus later tonight.
Tuesday’s forecast suggests partly cloudy skies, becoming mostly overcast at times, with isolated showers possible. Winds will begin light from the southeast to southwest at around 3 Beaufort, gradually shifting to southwest and northwest, reaching moderate levels of 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Stronger gusts of up to 5 Beaufort are expected along southeastern coastal areas. Seas will be slightly disturbed.
Temperatures are set to reach 27°C inland and along the western coast, 28°C on other coastal areas, and 19°C in the higher mountains.
Overnight, conditions will turn mainly cloudy, with localised showers and isolated thunderstorms expected after midnight, initially in the west and gradually spreading elsewhere.
Thunderstorms may bring stronger, shifting winds and hail. Winds will remain mostly southwesterly, light to moderate, with temporary strong gusts in windward areas.
Seas will remain slightly disturbed, becoming rough in western and northern regions by morning.
Temperatures will drop to 17°C inland, 18°C along the coast, and 10°C in mountainous areas.
Wednesday and Thursday will see intermittent local showers and possible isolated storms, accompanied by strong to very strong winds. Friday is expected to be mostly clear, though patches of increased cloud cover may appear.
Temperatures will decline through Thursday, particularly inland and in mountainous regions, falling below seasonal averages. A slight rise is expected on Friday.
