Bad weather caused problems in Larnaca and Paphos.
The Fire Service has so far responded to calls over isolated incidents linked to severe weather in the Aradippou area. The calls involved pumping water out of flooded basements and moving a vehicle from a flooded road.
Meanwhile, crews from the Larnaca Sewerage Board are working to clear storm-water drains.
In Paphos, a lightning strike sparked a fire at a property in the Lara area that was operating as a cafe-restaurant, nearly destroying it completely. Strong wind gusts also brought down trees at several locations.
In at least one instance, crews from the Electricity Authority of Cyprus were called in to restore power in the Faros area after overhead cables from the authority’s network were severed.
