FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE  – The American artificial intelligence company Tenstorrent intends to establish operations in Cyprus, as revealed by CEO Jim Keller during a meeting with President Christodoulides in Silicon Valley, San Francisco.

According to government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, this initiative aims to create high-quality jobs and foster strategic cooperation in AI development.

Discussions highlighted the potential for Cyprus to serve as a technological hub in the Eastern Mediterranean.

President Christodoulides also engaged with leaders from global tech firms like OpenAI, Amazon, Google, Nvidia, and Oracle.

Notably, he met with Saed Amid, CEO of Plug and Play, who announced plans for a platform partners’ visit to Cyprus to explore investment opportunities.

The talks emphasized integrating Cypriot startups into international networks and attracting investments to bolster entrepreneurship in the region.

Christodoulides hopes to position the island as a regional hub for technology and innovation.

The meetings aimed to attract investment and establish Cyprus as a strategic gateway for companies expanding in the European Union, the Middle East, and North Africa.

Christodoulides is highlighting Cyprus’ strengths, including its advanced digital infrastructure and a growing tech sector that contributes over 14% to the country’s GDP.

He is joined by Deputy Ministers Nicodemos Damianou and Irene Piki, government officials, and leaders in Cyprus’ innovation initiatives.

Earlier this week, Christodoulides met with Chevron executives, including CEO Mike Wirth to discuss energy developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, focusing on the strategic importance of the “Aphrodite” field.

The discussions highlighted the significance of agreements between Cyprus and Chevron for the field’s exploitation, and between Cyprus and Egypt for the commercial development of its natural gas.

Christodoulides was briefed on plans for a seabed survey this summer, which will initiate pipeline construction between “Aphrodite” and Egypt.

Chevron’s expertise and operations in Cyprus, Israel, Egypt, and Greece position the company as a vital player in ensuring regional energy security.
