Thousands of people demonstrated over the weekend in Madrid against the government’s handling of the migration situation in Ceuta.
The protest was organized by the right-leaning civil platform Sociedad Civil Española and backed by the conservative Popular Party (PP) and the far-right Vox party.
Some 80,000 migrants crossed the border from Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in late July.
The situation in Ceuta has fueled political conflict between Spain’s left-wing government, regions governed by the conservative Popular Party, and the far-right Vox party.
