What is tuberculosis?
Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which primarily affects the lungs but can spread to other parts of the body.
It is a contagious disease transmitted through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.
Symptoms of TB may include a persistent cough, fever, night sweats, weight loss, and fatigue. TB is preventable and treatable with proper medical intervention, typically involving antibiotics taken over an extended period. However, without timely treatment, it can be life-threatening.
