Turkey plans to ban gambling advertisements under legislation to be submitted to parliament in the coming days, officials said Tuesday.
The measure would extend restrictions already in place on alcohol and tobacco advertising to gambling, which authorities say has seen rising use among minors. The Justice, Interior and Family and Social Services ministries are preparing the draft law.
The bill will also include provisions to raise maternity leave from 16 weeks to 24 weeks. In addition, regulations will be introduced to block access to gambling for children aged 15 to 18.
Officials said the advertising ban is part of broader efforts to curb gambling’s social impact and protect vulnerable groups.
