The Vatican said Saturday it is not satisfied with Israel’s explanation for a recent attack on a Catholic church in Gaza that killed three people and injured nine others.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s secretary of state, told Italian broadcaster RAI that doubts remain about Israel’s claim that the strike was accidental.
The attack hit the Church of the Holy Family, where about 600 people had sought shelter. Among the injured was the Italian parish priest.
Parolin said the Vatican continues to call for a full account from Israeli authorities.
