Ukraine is not participating in peace talks between Russia and the United States in Saudi Arabia, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on Monday, according to Reuters.
– Ukraine didn’t know about it, he says.
– Ukraine considers all negotiations about Ukraine without Ukraine as negotiations without results. We cannot recognize any agreements without us.
Zelensky himself will travel to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. He is currently in the United Arab Emirates.
Elsewhere, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claims that European countries only want to continue the war in Ukraine and that there is no point in including them in peace talks.
“I don’t know what they would do at the negotiating table. If they are going to sit at the negotiating table with the goal of continuing the war, then why invite them there,” Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow on Monday.
Over the weekend, US envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg said that Europe would not be allowed to participate in planned peace talks between the US and Russia on Ukraine. Later, Secretary of State Marco Rubio made statements suggesting the opposite.
