FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Approximately 290,000 non-European Union citizens who legally entered Cyprus between 2014 and 2023 have no recorded departure, potentially suggesting illegal residence, according to estimates from the Auditor General’s Office.
This figure is highlighted in a report by the Audit Office, which reviewed migration management in Cyprus, focusing on legal frameworks and principles of efficiency, economy, and effectiveness.
The report indicates that police data shows many Third Country Nationals (TCNs)—from non-EU nations—arrived legally during the specified period but lack documentation of their departure.
With visas or residence permits expired, they may now be unlawfully present in the Republic of Cyprus (RoC).
