FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Trump administration on Tuesday criticized Amazon over unconfirmed reports that the company planned to highlight the impact of U.S. tariff policies on prices in its online store.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called the alleged plans “a hostile and political act” and accused Amazon of collaborating with China, according to Reuters.
Amazon denied the claims, stating that it had only considered displaying import taxes for items in its budget-focused “Amazon Haul” section, not its main store. The company clarified that the proposal would not be implemented, Reuters reported.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who also owns the Washington Post, has maintained a positive relationship with President Donald Trump, donating $1 million to his inauguration in January.
