FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — Portuguese police have launched a new search near the resort where British toddler Madeleine McCann disappeared 18 years ago at the request of German authorities.
McCann was three years old when she vanished from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007. She has not been seen since.
The case is now led by German investigators, who suspect Christian Brueckner, a German national currently serving time for unrelated crimes, in her disappearance.
The search is focused on land between Praia da Luz and a house where Brueckner lived at the time. A previous search in May 2023 at an inland reservoir yielded no results.
