Cyprus’ public sector is the most expensive in the world

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) reported in its new report, which conveyed the results of the evaluation it carried out in March regarding the economy, that the cost of public salaries in Cyprus is higher than the average of both Europe and the developed economies of the world.

The Cypriot public sector is one of the most expensive public sectors in the world, it adds.

According to the report, the IMF, drawing attention to the need to “determine a ceiling limit so that resources can be directed to the implementation of critical and necessary investments,” suggested the Cypriot administration to oppose further increases in the scale-mobil values ​​or new temporary increases in salaries.
