TUESDAY’S WEATHER – A seasonal low-pressure system and a warm air mass are driving temperatures to dangerous highs across Cyprus this week, according to the Meteorological Service.
Wednesday’s forecast calls for mostly clear and hot conditions. Winds will blow southwesterly to northwesterly at light to moderate strength, reaching 3 to 4 Beaufort, and up to 5 Beaufort in western regions. Seas will be slightly choppy. Temperatures are expected to peak at 43°C inland, 36°C along the eastern, southern, and northern coasts, and 34°C in the west and mountainous areas.
Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear. Winds will shift to northwesterly and locally northeasterly, remaining light at 3 Beaufort, occasionally reaching moderate levels. Seas will be calm to slightly choppy. Overnight temperatures will drop to 26°C inland and along the coast, and 24°C in higher elevations.
Thursday and Friday will continue with clear skies and intense heat. A slight temperature increase is expected Thursday, with values remaining well above seasonal averages.
Friday, which marks the Feast of the Assumption (Dekapentavgoustos), will remain mostly clear. Winds will strengthen, and temperatures are forecast to drop slightly, particularly inland and in mountainous areas, though they will still hover above climatological norms.
