FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – President Nikos Christodoulides met Monday with American fire investigators to review progress in the probe into recent wildfires, according to government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis.
The team from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), a U.S. Justice Department unit specializing in fire investigations, presented its findings at the Presidential Palace.
The group has conducted similar missions in 44 countries.
Letymbiotis said the experts shared a detailed timeline based on data from local agencies, interviews, and on-site inspections.
The team also used simulations and other technologies to analyze the fires.
The spokesman added that the ATF investigators requested additional information during their stay and are expected to submit a final report in the coming weeks.
