FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A wildfire broke out Thursday night in the Gerokamina area of Moniatis, within the Troodos National Forest Park, according to the Department of Forests under the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
The blaze ignited around 9 p.m. along a roadside slope inside the park.
Firefighting crews responded swiftly, bringing the fire under control before it could spread further.
Two forest department personnel with one fire engine and five firefighters from the Fire Service with two vehicles took part in the operation. Police officers also arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
No injuries were reported, and authorities are continuing to monitor the area.
