Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is set to unveil what government officials are calling the most sweeping tax reform in Greece’s modern history during his appearance at the Thessaloniki International Fair this weekend.

According to sources, the announcements will focus on reducing direct taxes, with a strong emphasis on lowering tax rates and ensuring that the financial relief reaches citizens directly.

“We will hear the most significant tax reform ever,” senior officials said, describing the plan as rooted in fairness and common sense.

The reform aims to boost household income and ease the burden of rising living costs.

The Greek government has opted for broad-based tax relief over proposals such as the opposition’s call for a 13th monthly salary.

The measures are expected to benefit salaried workers, freelancers, pensioners, and the middle class, with the overarching goal of promoting social equity.

Mitsotakis is scheduled to arrive in Thessaloniki on Friday afternoon, with his keynote speech expected to set the tone for the government’s autumn political agenda.
