NICOSIA, Cyprus – Cyprus’s left-wing party AKEL has condemned a reported Israeli military operation in international waters targeting a flotilla en route to Gaza, calling it an “act of piracy” and a violation of international law.
In a statement Thursday, AKEL accused the Netanyahu government of abducting dozens of mission members and demanded their immediate release.
The party also urged authorities to allow the flotilla to reach the Palestinian enclave and deliver humanitarian aid to civilians.
AKEL emphasized the need to uphold international norms and protect humanitarian efforts in conflict zones.
