A Croatian worker is being treated at Paphos General Hospital after reportedly ingesting a chemical substance at a factory in the Ayia Varvara industrial zone, authorities said Monday.
According to police and the Department of Labor Inspection, the man—employed at a facility specializing in the construction and repair of jacuzzis—mistook a bottle containing a chemical or caustic liquid for drinking water.
He realized the error immediately, drank water, and vomited before being transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.
Doctors said his condition is serious but stable, and further tests are ongoing.
