Authorities were mobilized Tuesday after a rocket pod detached from a National Guard helicopter during a training flight over the coastal town of Pegeia.
The incident occurred shortly before noon, according to the Ministry of Defense. The rocket pod, which did not contain live ammunition, fell into a field in a residential holiday area known for its villas.
Police recovered the equipment and will return it to the National Guard. No injuries or property damage were reported.
A Defense Ministry spokesperson confirmed the incident and said an investigation will be launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the equipment failure.
