Employment in Cyprus rose in the third quarter of 2025, with both the number of workers and hours worked showing year-on-year gains, according to provisional estimates released by the Statistical Service.

Total employment was estimated at 523,510 people, including 470,755 employees and 52,755 self-employed.

That marked a 1.4 percent increase compared with the same quarter in 2024. The largest gains were recorded in wholesale and retail trade, accommodation and food services, and manufacturing.

Hours worked also increased. Actual hours totaled 236.8 million, up 1.9 percent from a year earlier.

The same sectors — trade, accommodation and food services, and manufacturing — saw the strongest growth.

The figures are based on the European System of Accounts 2010 methodology and classified under the NACE Rev.2 system, covering employment by economic activity and professional status.
