Lebanese mobile operator Touch said its network handled record traffic during Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Lebanon from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, 2025.
The company said customer service teams assisted more than 11,000 subscribers at branches in Jounieh, Jbeil, its Beirut headquarters, Beirut airport and through its call center during the period.
Touch reported a sharp rise in call and data usage, with traffic up more than 400% at most visit sites and reaching 865% in Annaya.
The company deployed four mobile base stations at Beirut’s waterfront mass site and another at Martyrs’ Square, while boosting capacity in Annaya, Harissa, Bkerke and the presidential palace.
Connection success rates exceeded 99% across major locations, the company said.
A special package offered during the visit — one hour of calls and 3GB of data for $1 — drew more than 60,000 subscribers. Nearly 5 million calls were made and data use topped 1.6 million gigabytes.
