Beirut’s port set a record Sunday, handling about 12,800 containers in 24 hours after receiving three ships simultaneously, officials said. It was the highest daily rate in the port’s history.
The achievement comes just weeks after a new board of directors, led by Marwan Al‑Naffi, took office, signaling what officials described as a fresh administrative and operational path.
Port authorities said the performance reflects high readiness and efficiency, especially during the holiday season, with large volumes of cargo managed without slowing operations or affecting service quality.
They added that the milestone is expected to boost confidence among shipping lines and reinforce Beirut’s role as a key hub for maritime transport and regional trade.
